Like all small villages at the time, the company store was the hub of activity.  The store was down the boardwalk from the house and it sold everything we needed.

We didn't really shop there, since my mum bought all our provisions in the city from the big supermarkets that were a lot cheape...

Our first summer out at the cannery was the year I turned 9.  As luck would have it there were lots of girls my age that lived out there and they  were seasoned veterans when it came to cannery life.  The one difference was that both their parents worked. The women were either mending nets or workin...

Our visits to the cannery would change in the years to follow as Dad would take us out for adventures in the off season. One of my favourite things to do was dig at the site of the China House. I don't remember the house as a standing structure. It was on the shore. not on pilings, and it housed the...

Not many of us get to see the home we lived in as a child become a museum, North Pacific Cannery, where I spent much of my childhood, however, has become a museum and is in the process to hopefully become a UNESCO world heritage site. Before talking about the museum itself, here is the relevant back...

Part of travelling is eating the local cuisine. Maybe things you've never even heard of or thought you would/could ever eat.

The ice road has officially closed down today, so from now on, all our groceries and everything will be coming via plane. Prices will be going...

Ooh boy has it been a wild ride….

I’m trying to find a way to write about the last two months in a positive uplifting way without oversharing. There has certainly been wonderful positives. I will dwell on those while skating over the rest.

March 19, 2017

Yesterday I was just hanging out, maxing, relaxing all cool, watching the new Evil Dead with Mike and Aman and getting ready to blow their minds with Cabin in the Woods as a double feature when our lovely friend and photographer Jana called. Did we know that there was a Sun Dog outside right now?
